Need private trip? ???? Private Tips for Your Nepal Luxury Tour 1. Travel Light for Domestic Flights Domestic flights in Nepal (Kathmandu–Chitwan–Pokhara) have a baggage limit of 15 kg, including hand luggage. Pack smart and keep essentials like your camera, medications, and valuables in your carry-on. 2. Dress Comfortably and Respectfully Nepal’s weather can vary between regions. Bring light, breathable clothes for Chitwan and a light jacket for cooler mornings in Pokhara or Kathmandu. When visiting temples or monasteries, wear modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered). 3. Stay Hydrated and Eat Mindfully Altitude isn’t a concern on this trip, but hydration is key. Drink bottled or filtered water only. All meals at your luxury hotels and lodges are prepared safely — try local Nepali dishes like dal bhat or momo for an authentic taste. 4. Best Time to Travel For clear skies and ideal temperatures, travel between September–December or March–May. The weather is mild, and mountain views are spectacular. 5. Enjoy the Safari Responsibly During your Chitwan jungle safari, maintain a safe distance from wildlife and follow your naturalist’s guidance. Morning safaris usually offer the best chances of spotting rhinos and deer. 6. Cash & Connectivity ATMs are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara, but limited in Chitwan. Carry some Nepali rupees for small tips or local purchases. Most luxury hotels offer Wi-Fi, though connectivity in rural areas can be slower. 7. Sunrise & Sunset Magic Don’t miss sunrise at Sarangkot (Pokhara) and sunset by Phewa Lake — both are picture-perfect moments you’ll remember forever. 8. Health & Safety No special vaccinations are mandatory, but carrying mosquito repellent and sunscreen is recommended. Your hotels maintain excellent hygiene and safety standards. 9. Cultural Courtesy A simple “Namaste” with a smile goes a long way in Nepal. Avoid touching people’s heads and use your right hand for giving or receiving items. 10. Relax and Let Us Handle the Details Our Green Horizon team manages everything — from airport assistance and flights to guided tours and reservations — so you can simply relax and enjoy your journey in comfort and style.

Trip Information - Good to Know

Luxury and budget trekking

Health & Fitness

This itinerary is designed for travellers who are reasonably active and in good general health. You do not need to be a hiker or athlete. The one trekking day (Day 7) involves a total of 12–15 km of walking on mountain trails with approximately 400–600 metres of elevation gain — comparable to a moderately strenuous hike in any country. All other activities can be adapted to your fitness level.

The Namche and helicopter days involve altitudes of 3,440m and 5,545m, respectively. Altitude sickness is possible at these elevations and is not a sign of poor fitness. We build acclimatisation time into the itinerary, and your guide is trained in altitude illness recognition and response. Acetazolamide (Diamox) is recommended — please consult your doctor before travel.

Best Time to Travel

Nepal has two outstanding travel seasons. Spring (March to May) brings rhododendron blooms, relatively clear skies, and the legendary warm light of pre-monsoon afternoons. Autumn (September to November) offers the clearest mountain views of the year, cooler temperatures, and the festival season — Dashain and Tihar in October and November are among the most spectacular celebrations in Asia.

We do not recommend the monsoon season (June–August) for this itinerary. Winter (December–February) is possible for cultural tours, but limits trekking and helicopter activities due to cold and occasional snowfall.

Packing Guidance

  • Layered clothing is essential — temperatures range from 30°C in Chitwan to -5°C in Mustang
  • Quality walking shoes (waterproof recommended) — not full hiking boots unless you prefer them
  • Sun protection: SPF 50+, sunglasses (UV 400), and a wide-brim hat at altitude
  • Light down jacket or fleece for evenings and high altitude
  • Camera with a wide-angle lens — the landscapes demand it
  • Small daypack for excursions (20–30 litres is sufficient)
  • Personal medication and any prescription items

Currency & Payments

The currency of Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). As of 2026, approximately NPR 133 = USD 1. Your package covers the vast majority of expenses, so you’ll primarily need cash for personal shopping, tips, and incidentals. USD is widely accepted in tourist areas. There are ATMs in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Namche Bazaar. Credit cards are accepted at major hotels.

Visa

Most nationalities can obtain a tourist visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. The fee is USD $30 for 15 days or USD $50 for 30 days. You will need: a valid passport (minimum 6 months’ validity), one passport-size photograph, and the visa fee in cash. The process takes approximately 15–30 minutes. Please check the current requirements for your nationality before travel.
